History

The Kaman SH-2G "Sea Sprite" in the DVHAA Collection was received from HSL-94 based at NAS-JRB Willow Grove. HSL-94, nicknamed the "Titans" was one of the last US Navy squadrons to fly the SH-2. HSL-94 ferried their last SH-2G to AMARC Davis Monthan, Arizona in December 2000. The squadron officially stood down in March of 2001. HSL-94's maintenance department fully restored #162576 for static display, and they did a remarkable job. Considering that the engines and some key avionics components were removed, the aircraft appears very complete and in good condition, to the point that the mad bird, flare dispensers, sonobouy launch tubes, and a torpedo are installed. The squadron also repainted all the original markings and weatherproofed the aircraft for static display. It is an exhibit worthy of inclusion into any quality air museum's collection.
