WAYNE BERENS, Master Model Builder and Historian
Mr. Berens is well known for making large radio controlled scale models in meticulous detail. He will present a program on the history of the Grumman TBM Avenger, discussing the local connections of the aircraft and its manufacture in Trenton, as well as some of the pilots that flew it.
JOHN TEGLER (Col. USAF-Ret.)
Author, Pilot and Broadcaster: a licensed pilot since the age of 16, Mr. Tegler has served first as an enlisted man and later as a pilot and officer. He has accumulated many thousands of hours in the air in a great variety of aircraft from general aviation machines to supersonic jet fighters. He will be discussing his involvement with the sport of Air Racing and his latest book: “Gentlemen, You Have a Race”: A History of the Reno National Championship Air Races, 1964-1983.
DR. RUSSELL ATKINSON, Observer of Nuclear Testing in Southwest
Dr. Atkinson, a renowned physician and U.S. Army observer, will present a program on the effects of the U.S. Atomic Weapons Testing program during the early days of the Cold War. Dr. Atkinson studied the effects of radiation on the health of the Native American people affected by above-ground testing and can now raise the veil of secrecy which surrounded it for many years.
