Aircraft Restoration
The DVHAA Restoration team restores and maintains all historic aircraft belonging to the organization and those on loan from our partners in the U.S. Navy and
Air Force. Past restorations are on
display in the museum (P-80 and H-13), as well as in the outdoor display grounds.
Most recently, our team has completed
cosmetic and interior restorations of a Grumman C-1A Tracker, Piasecki HUP-2 Retriever
and Sikorsky UH-34D Seabat.
Currently our team is working on a complete cosmetic restoration of the Chance Vought
F8U-1 Crusader as well as preparing a
Republic F-84 Thunderjet for display. Scheduled to undergo restoration in the next
few years is the DVHAA's Chance-Vought F7U
Cutlass. This aircraft is one of only five remaining in the world and will be the
only such aircraft on display in the
Northeast. (The others are in Pensacola, FLA, Seattle, WA and San Diego, CA).
Anyone wishing to join the restoration team should fill out our
membership form
and indicate "volunteer for restoration" or call the DVHAA office at (215) 443-6039.
No experience is necessary, however
experience in aviation maintenance, sheet metal work, painting or auto body work is a
plus.
